Short Hair Maintenance
Having short hair is fun because you don’t need to worry all the time about whether you’re getting split ends, or if your hair is shiny enough. However, proper scalp care is essential, because the scalp is more exposed to sunburn, wind and pollution. It’s helpful to shampoo with a clarifying shampoo once weekly to remove product buildup on the hair and scalp. Use a sunscreen-based product in the summer, such as Redken’s UV Rescue Spray, Bonacure Sun Guardian Spray or Kerastase Soleil Micro-Voile Protecteur.
Regular trims are necessary to maintain the integrity of your cut, and not necessarily for the health of your hair. Men should set up a schedule of 3 week intervals between haircuts. A woman can sometimes get away with 5 weeks depending on how quickly her hair grows.
And finally…what to do when you decide to grow out your hair? Well, first, refer to my section on long hair growth and maintenance. Then, let me know, and I will help you prepare a plan for the different in-between stages for haircuts along the way.
